A few things at Lletty need to be considered because of its remoteness.
The gate to the forest is kept padlocked to prevent unwanted vehicles using the woods. This can be an inconvenience at times but this is for the benefit of other users and property owners within the forest. Remember, if you leave it open, someone is liable to come along and lock it.
There is a derelict cottage by the farmhouse. This is in a very dilapidated state and under no circumstances should anyone, especially children, enter it.
The stream running on the other side of the derelict cottage is in a very deep gorge and children should not be allowed to play near the edge.
The water to Lletty comes from an underground spring and is filtered and treated with UV light before entering the house. After extremely high rainfall the water may occasionally go brown. You may prefer to buy bottled water for drinking; however we have been safely drinking the water for years.
The toilets flush to a septic tank. Non-organic material should be disposed of in the bins provided.
The track up to Lletty is extremely rutted with lots of potholes and can be overgrown in summer, especially in the latter half. Please drive with caution especially when it is wet or at night. You do not need a 4x4 to access the track but it can be an advantage.
Do not drive closer to the house than the large doors of the barn; otherwise you will spend the rest the day trying to get your car back up the hill.
The bins by the door are for the temporary storage of bagged waste only. They are not collected. Please place bagged waste and recycling in the wooded structure at the bottom of the track by the road. If rubbish is left out at night the bags will be ripped apart by foxes.
We encourage people to recycle. Please use one of the blue bags for mixed recycling (apart from glass which you should leave separately)
The garden and grounds need to be maintained especially throughout the summer. We generally try to arrange this for the Friday change over so as not to disturb your visit. The weather however, does not always allow this so you may occasionally meet Cyril the grass cutter or Tom the gardener.
